Character.AI is a place, not a person. Millions of community-made characters, from fandom favourites to original creations, a free tier that lets you talk for a long time, real-time voice calls, and since 2024 a growing set of features around them: group chats, Imagine chat for images, AvatarFX animation. If what you want is a different character every evening, or a specific one from a specific fandom, nothing on the market matches the catalog.

The limits are the ones everyone knows. Explicit content is blocked for all users; verified adults can flirt and fade to black, nothing more. Long conversations lose the thread. She sends photos in four styles, voice messages in three voices, calls you in the app, writes a diary about you after every 50 messages, and after 150 messages the story can be bound into a novel.

Variety, by a mile. Nika's community shelf is in the hundreds; Character.AI's is in the millions, and it includes characters other people have already spent months refining. Platforms: Character.AI has a native iOS app; Nika on iPhone is a web app you add to the home screen. Group chats and fandom roleplay with several bots at once are a Character.AI thing.
